Blackbird Fly

It has been SO cold in DC lately.  (Even in my edit room at work - I’m wearing a long sleeved shirt, sweater, fleece and scarf and am still shivering.)
So, it will be nice to get on an airplane tonight and wake up in a warmer climate!

My road trip starts in t-minus 30 minutes when Andrew picks me up from work to take me to Dulles and I hop on a direct flight to SFO.  I’ll be getting in around 1am and from there, it’s about a 1 1/2 hour drive to Monterey.  After a short night, we’ll be on to LA!

As we pack our bags in preparation for our return to the USA tomorrow, we can totally relate to this photograph by our awesome photographer friend Lane Collins.

Heading to NYC tomorrow morning bright and early for a couple days of catching up, fun photography, Christmas shopping and playing tourist!  Any good rainy day NYC suggestions?  I’m considering spending the afternoon at the Met.

Going to be bringing a whole new meaning to the long & winding road…
I’m planning a cross country road trip!  One of my best friends is moving out to DC from California, so I’m going to ride along and keep him company.
We’re working on a route - any suggestions from the peanut gallery?
So far, I am thinking Monterey to LA to Las Vegas via Sequoia Park, to Flagstaff via the Grand Canyon, to Santa Fe, to Dallas via Cadillac Ranch, to Memphis, to Vidalia via Nashville and Atlanta, to DC via Savannah & South of the Boarder (of course) and finally back to DC.

Favorites from my photo class at the Washington School of Photography.  The class was just an intro to DSLR (spread out over four weeks) and thanks to a Groupon deal, it only cost me $99.  The school is in Bethesda, which is a trek for me from Capitol Hill; but the class was great and the best part - I finally feel comfortable shooting in Manual!

My Sweet Joy; Always Remember Me

After a hiatus of sorts, I think it’s about time to replug into all of my social networks.

Let’s see.  Since the last time I posted, I have taken a photography class, started redecorating my apartment and am learning how to navigate DC with a car.  All fun adventures.

I’m trying to get my life back on track, finding happiness in the small things around me.  I want to push myself, but motivation is lacking.  I blame it on being overworked, yet underwhelmed in my career and not knowing how to fix it.  I’m trying to find that passion again.  Out with the old, in with the new.  Picking up the pieces and taking out the trash.  Simply, streamline and focus.  Those are my goals these next few months.

Tomorrow I’m dragging @dogunderwater to Fairfax, my old stomping grounds, in search of the bridesmaid dress my friend picked out for her wedding.  I’m hoping this won’t be as painful as I’m thinking it will be.  Thank goodness I’ll have company along for the ride!

PS, Photo update coming soon.
